This car is the worst. A hot hatch, that is lifted for no reason other than “Lift it a bit, wealthy Americans love “crossovers. They don’t buy hatchbacks”. It’s for chrome bits, and black wheels, and a silly rear wing, and OH My God it’s just so wrong. This car kinda makes me hate Mercedes and AMG
I’ll even give it the benefit of posting pics of it’s “good” sides.
Big doofy lookin taillights, and an out of place big strip of chome...
Oh and you gotta love how the roof line scoops in a slopes so much in the rear that this “crossover” has less rear cargo room than a Chevy Sonic. Seriously 4.1 cubic feet less. 43.6 in the GLA and 47.7 in the Sonic (both numbers are with the rear seats down)

Alternatively a hot hatch that can get over the severe speedbumps where I live, not a bad idea.

Hey, Mercedes WRC car.

Mercedes is such a fail company. all their amg offerings are pure cookie cutter parts bin projects that im sure cost them nothing to make otherwise why would the r63 amg exist? this car is stupid and Mercedes should feel bad

I don't see a problem, it's attractive, affordable, looks ruggedly sporty. Would buy over an A3

Someone lifts a focus and people live it, Mercedes lifts a, uh, whatever it is they lifted, and people hate it. Is it an SUV? No, and they should stop calling it one. What it is is a wheel/tire swap away from a rally hatchback.

like this.
the A45 AMG. here in the UK we get the the A45 and the GLA45.

Get this on some white rally wheels and high profile tires.

I too was skeptical of small AMG’s, but the lunacy of its engine goes with the character of AMG.
If I wanted a fast Crossover, i’d get a Macan any day of the week.

It’s also horrendously expensive, just like the A45 and CLA45.

You shut your whore mouth.
That is probably the most exciting, raucous vehicle that MB sells in the US. Sure, I’d love the A45 AMG, but we don’t get that.

I dunno I think it looks striking in red over black

Fast, turbo, AWD rally-hatch. I see no problems here. Get some proper wheels and tires on it and dirt roads here I come!

10/10 - Would Rally this!

Having driven it’s brother, the CLA45, I would have to say this should be a pretty solid ride. Since I haven’t driven the GLA, then I’m just going on speculation here, but it would seem to me that the GLA is just a more off-road version of the CLA. A little AMG rally machine. The wing on the back is heinous imo, but other than that I wouldn’t mind one being parked in my driveway.
And to your point about the cargo space. Nobody is buying this car to haul stuff around or take your wife and kids on vacation. If you’re buying this, it’s because you want an inexpensive entry in to the AMG club. You don’t get this car for practicality. If you’re looking for a practical MB, you get a GLK.

I wonder if they offer a trailer hitch? I need to pull a boat but the only true SUV’s I like are Land Rovers. :)

For what the GLA is, it’s pretty awesome! Exactly like you said, a lifted CLA. I would 100% drive this is if I had the opportunity, would just unbolt the wing of course.

The red does look better.

Dude, chill. I know MB calls it an SUV, but it’s just a hatchback. It’s got about as much ground clearance as an old Focus, which happens to have only 30.6 cu.ft. of cargo room.
All cars don’t need to be all things to all people. That being said, the GLA ticks a lot more of the boxes than most.

Did you hate the STi hatch, as well?
